Musical Curves

NOTE: Java broke MIDI support in the recent JRE. It no longer distributes with soundbank.gm. If you hear no sound when using this applet, go here and folow the instructions to download and install a soundbank.

This curious little Java applet was developed back in 2006 at GHP with my buddy Brett Dutro. It graphs a parametric curve, and then plays each point along the curve; it treats the x-axis as the keyboard, and the y-axis as an indicator of the proper duration of the note. There isn’t any real data validation, so if you input something that isn’t a number it will most likely crash. Also, this program only plots points along the curve, not the actual curves themselves… We only had a few days to work on this, and I haven’t had the time to go back and improve it.
